email with Mac OSX

iPhone users, follow this process, then change your Outgoing SMTP Server as described here >>>
  • Step 1: On the "Mail" menu, select preferences
  • Step 2: Assuming you have not tried to set up the mail account already, press the 'plus' symbol. If you already have you account set up, skip to step 12.
  • Step 3: Complete the details to match your requirements. Please note you will need to have created the mailbox in cPanel and noted the password you used to create it.
  • Step 4: Set "Account Type" to be "IMAP". Fill out the details with mail.yourdomain.com and click "Continue".
  • Make sure you enter the FULL EMAIL ADDRESS for User Name.
  • Step 5: If you receive this error, it may be because you are still experiencing propagation of your domain or Mac Mail was temporarily unable to connect. In most cases it will resolve once the account is set up in it entirety, so for now click "Continue".
  • Step 6: Do not "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)" and click "Continue"
  • Step 7: You may use your ISP for Sending Mail or you can use what is demonstrated below.
  • Step 8: Again if you receive this message, it is ok to click "Continue".
  • Step 9: Again do not "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)" and click "Continue"
  • Step 10: 'Tick' the option to "Take Account Online" and click "Create".
  • Congratulations! You have now successfully set up Mac Mail. You can also use the following steps to trouble shoot if needed.
  • Step 12: To confirm your outgoing mail server, click on the drop down and select "Edit SMTP Server List.."
  • Step 13: If using our server, ensure the details match the following.
  • Final Check: It is recommended to set the "Check for new messages" setting to be 15 minutes.
