Use advanced setup to add your email account in Outlook for Windows

If you need to enter specific values for incoming and outgoing server names, port numbers, or SSL settings, you can use Outlook's advanced setup option. You can use these instructions to add a POP or IMAP account to Outlook.

  1. Open Outlook and select File > Add Account.

  2. On the next screen, enter your email address, select Advanced options, then check the box for Let me set up my account manually and select Connect or Next.

  3. Select your account type. Most of the time when you need to use this option, you'll select IMAP.

  4. At the Account settings screen may be pre-populated, however you will need to enter your incoming and outgoing server settings as follows:

    It is important that you use the mail. prefix here.

    Incoming Mail Server: mail.yourdomain.com.au
    Port: 993
    For Encryption Method, select SSL/TLS

    Outgoing Mail Server: mail.yourdomain.com.au
    Port: 465
    For Encryption Method, select SSL/TLS

  5. Test the connection, if all goes well, you're done.

  6. If you receive any errors, try switching encryption methods from SSL to Auto or vice-versa.
